Scattered thunderstorms developed overnight in northern Oklahoma and will continue to cross the state through the weekend.  Although moderate fine particulate matter may register today, the precipitation washes pollution from the atmosphere and ultimately will restore good air quality.  Stiff breezes may loft some dust in drier areas on Saturday and Sunday as a series of strong low-pressure areas crosses the northern Great Plains.  The warm southerly winds will sustain scattered thunderstorms on a diurnal cycle through next week.  In western Oklahoma and the Panhandle, however, dry and breezy weather will create high fire danger and sustain moderate ozone.  Ozone also may develop in urban areas between rain showers.
