Areas with snow cover will continue to experience temperature inversions through the morning hours until most of the snow is melted. These inversions will trap particulates close to the ground, leading to higher values throughout the first half of the week. After the snow melts, prescribed fires may produce especially thick and locally unhealthy smoke on account of the cold and moist fuels. These inversions may also allow ozone to creep into the moderate category early week and possibly later in the week as temperatures are expected to climb into the low 70s.
