Away from fires, which may produce locally
unhealthy smoke, and the blowing dust in the Panhandle, good air quality will
prevail in Oklahoma today with strong southerly breezes. Scattered severe thunderstorms will develop
this evening as a cold front passes.
The front will stall in southeastern Oklahoma, and thunderstorms will
continue for the rest of the week.
Rain washed pollution from the atmosphere, but northerly wind may
transport smoke from the Flint Hills of Kansas into Oklahoma. On Friday and Saturday, the rains will
spread westward and connect into a winter storm in western Oklahoma. After a late freeze, cold, dry weather will
last through next week. Persistent
northerly flow may bring smoke southward. |
